Plantains, a firmer and less sweet cousin of the banana, make a fantastic side dish or appetizer for many Latin American-inspired dishes. My family loves these so much that we often have to count the slices to make sure everyone gets their fair share.
1/8tsp. kosher salt, sea salt, or another coarse saltoptional
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Lightly spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
In a medium bowl, toss the plantain slices with the melted butter and lay them on the baking sheet, leaving space between them.
Sprinkle them with the cinnamon and salt (if you are using it) and bake them for 15 minutes, then flip them (they should be nicely browned on the bottom), and then cook them for 5 more minutes until the second side is browned. Serve them immediately.
