Total Time 5 mins
Servings 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. vegetable, canola, or coconut oil
  • 1/3 cup popcorn kernels
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar preferably superfine
  • 2 tsp. butter or margarine melted (optional)
  • 1/8 tsp. salt or to taste

Instructions

  • In a heavy stockpot, heat the oil over medium heat for about 1 minute.
  • Add the popcorn kernels and the sugar, give them a quick stir, and partially cover the pot so just a little air can escape. Pop the corn, shaking the pan occasionally, until there is a few seconds between pops and most of the kernels are popped.
  • Meanwhile, melt the butter. Turn off the heat, stir in the butter, transfer the corn to a bowl and season it with the salt. Serve immediately.
