
- In a heavy stockpot, heat the oil over medium heat for about 1 minute.
- Add the popcorn kernels and the sugar, give them a quick stir, and partially cover the pot so just a little air can escape. Pop the corn, shaking the pan occasionally, until there is a few seconds between pops and most of the kernels are popped.
- Meanwhile, melt the butter. Turn off the heat, stir in the butter, transfer the corn to a bowl and season it with the salt. Serve immediately.
