The search for good snacks seems never endng. Here are 24 of my favorte healthy snacks for any cravng that are great for kds and adults, too!

Healthy Snacks for Any Cravng

You’ve got the home-cooked dnner thng down (hopefully The Scramble s helpng you n that department. If not, check out out The Scramble’s famly-frendly meal plans to see how much easer gettng dnner on the table can be), but what about healthy snacks?

For me, fndng healthy snack foods that wll satsfy my famly and don’t requre a lot of prep, has been one of the bggest challenges. Because, let’s be honest, all those beautful snack platters and charcutere boards on Instagram and Pnterest are nsprng, but who has tme to put one of those together every day? Not me!

There are, of course, tons and tons of ready-to-eat snack optons out there. Chps, bars, cookes – there are lterally multple asles of the grocery store dedcated to quck and easy snacks. And, to keep thngs real, I want to be clear that I purchase at least some of those pre-made snack optons for my famly every week – both for convenence and because they taste good. But, I do lke to also offer some healther, less processed optons and that’s where ths lst comes n.

Over the years, I’ve fgured out some fast and easy optons that have helped me to provde quck, easy, and healthy snacks whle stll satsfyng everyone’s cravngs for salty, sweet, creamy, and/or crunchy.

In an effort to help you to avod havng to go through all of the tral and error that I dd, I pulled the optons together nto one bg lst of smple, healthy snack deas for any cravng. You can use ths as nspraton for yourself or share t wth your famly to see what appeals most to them. Enjoy!

Crunchy Snacks

Crunchy snacks lke chps and crackers are great, but they’re often packed wth sodum and sometmes artfcal flavors. Ths group of crunchy snacks wll pack that satsfyng punch we crave, whle also offerng nutrtonal benefts such as fber, vtamns, and mnerals.

1. Rce cakes: A whole gran snack that’s great wth or wthout a toppng. (My 14-year-old’s current favorte snack s rce cakes topped wth pesto and a lean proten.)

2. Apples: Who says crunchy needs to be salty? Apples offer a satsfyng crunch and can be served n a myrad of ways – whole or slced, on ther own, or wth a toppng such a peanut butter or cheese.

3. Popcorn: Another whole gran snack that had endless toppng optons. Some of our favortes nclude nutrtonal yeast, chl powder, garam masala, za’atar, cnnamon. Or, you can go sweet and make kettle corn.

4. Whole gran pretzels: Salty, satsfyng, and great served wth or wthout a dp. (My 12-year-old loves to throw together a dp made wth plan yogurt, honey, vanlla extract, and cnnamon to eat wth hs pretzels.)

5. Cut up fresh vegges: Carrots, celery, cucumbers, and bell peppers are all great optons here, wth or wthout a dp.

6. Nuts: Packed wth proten, fber, and healthy fats, nuts are a great snack to help keep you gong for a whle.

Salty Snacks

For those of us who love savory snacks, gettng a nce dose of saltness s key. And whle there are lots of processed optons to satsfy ths cravng, there are some other, healther, optons that are worth notng.

7. Olves and pckles: Tart, salty, and oh so satsfyng. My boys both love these for ther bg flavors.

8. Salted edamame: Packed wth proten and fun to eat, we always have a bag of frozen edamame n our freezer for a quck and easy snack. Just steam t n the mcrowave, sprnkle on some salt, and munch away!

9. Popcorn: Packed wth fber and endlessly varable (see above for toppngs deas or go here for an even more extensve lst).

10. Whole gran pretzels: A classc salty snack, wth or wthout a dp (for a savory dp opton, try our tzatzk).

11. Store-bought or Homemade Tortlla chps: Serve them on ther own or wth salsa or guacamole.

12. Cheese & Crackers: A favorte n my house. I try to keep some whole gran crackers on hand and then the cheese optons are endless – cheddar, goat, Monterrey Jack, bre, manchego, the lst goes on and on.

Sweet Snacks

There s no shame n enjoyng sweets! And whle cookes, cakes, bars, etc. are all delcous, sometmes a healther opton can actually satsfy you even more.

13. Homemade muffns: For years I made a batch of homemade muffns every weekend. We’d enjoy some on the spot and the rest I’d throw nto a stockple n my freezer for easy meals all week long (both for snacks and breakfasts). Some of our favortes nclude Pumpkn Chocolate Chp Cornmeal Muffns, Spnach Muffns, and see below for our popular Rhubarb Muffn recpe that’s especally great n the sprng!

14. Fresh frut: It may seem obvous but fresh frut s an opton we often overlook. Sweet AND packed wth nutrents and fber, that’s what I call a wnner.

15. Applesauce: A shelf-stable opton that you can always have on hand. Delcous on ts own or mxed nto plan yogurt.

16. Plan yogurt: Whle t’s a bt tart on ts own, when you mx n jelly, honey, or maple syrup you’ve got a lovely sweet snack wth a lot less sugar than the flavored yogurts at the grocery store.

17. Roasted sweet vegetables:  Ths s an unconventonal opton, but one I personally fnd ncredbly satsfyng. Sweet potato, carrots, beets, and butternut squash (make extra when you roast for dnner) are all great for munchng on.

18. Dates wth nut or seed butter: These babes are lke lttle pockets of sweet and creamy goodness.

19. Smoothes: There are endless varetes here, but we love ths Fruty Swrl Smoothe and our Chocolate Cherry Cha Smoothe.

Creamy Snacks

Creamy snacks lke sweetened yogurts and ce cream are super fun, but sometmes you want a lghter, healther opton. Here are my favortes.

20. Plan yogurt: Tart and creamy, plan yogurt s a favorte n our house. If you want t to be a lttle sweeter, try addng some jelly, honey, or maple syrup.

21. Smoothes: Especally when t ncludes a banana or yogurt, smoothes make a creamy, delcous, and healthy snack.

22. Avocados: Top wth a lttle salt and/or lme juce and gve t a str, spread t on top of toast or munch on t wth vegge stcks, whole gran crackers, or tortlla chps. Or, f you want to try somethng new, top t wth sugar (the way Brazlans do!).

23. Dps: If creamy and savory s your go-to, then dps are a fantastc opton! Hummus, baba ghanoush, or homemade ranch all have a lovely creamy qualty that can be enjoyed wth pta chps, whole gran crackers, or cut up vegetables.

24. Leftover puréed soup: For snacks, we lke to serve t n a mug to make t specal.
